FOOD SYSTEM DESIGN

A loved child has many different names, some say. Participatory design is the method where you invite the citizens to co-create the environment together with you. It is sometimes also called collaborative design, due to the emphasis on the collaboration made possible between different actors to reach mutual goals. 

 

The Foodprint Lab always aim to involve as many as possible in the design process, as well as in the implementation. We know that this create some extra care and ownership of your environment. We have developed certain workshops to enable the involvement of anyone interested in growing or influence their own environment. Also the digital tool GrowGbg enables co-creation of the green spaces in our city and livelihoods,

PARTICIPATORY DESIGN

A food system includes all processes and infrastructure involved in feeding a population: growing, harvesting, processing, packaging, transporting, marketing, consumption, and disposal of food and food-related items.

The Foodprint Lab's Architects and Urban Planners, work to design food systems which are locally based and make it possible for everyone to access, grow and consume healthy food in their own local area. We support cities to plan for food security in mind, from the strategic plans such as policies, detail plans etc until implementation through the matchmaking service and the digital tool GrowGbg. GrowGbg matchmake anyone that wants to farm with suitable land, ensuring there is someone that always will maintain the farm and green surfaces in the city and the countryside.
